Speakers

Acoustic Technologies

At Acoustic Technologies, LLC, we believe that less is more.

Our unique patent-pending loudspeakers combine a single 3” full range driver with an ingenious enclosure, which serves as an amplifier and resonator to accurately reproduce a coherent, naturally synthesized sound over a large range of frequencies. Our loudspeakers create a realistic three-dimensional listening experience over a previously unattainable range of listening positions. Our loudspeakers do not have a “sweet-spot,” therefore allowing the listener to roam around the listening room (or even leave it) and still retain a realistically wide, deep, and tall soundstage image in which all performers remain in their (virtual) location. Listen for yourself to the Acoustic Technologies, LLC speakers and you will experience the presentation of music like no other.
We presently have this unique speaker in our system for your audition.  Hear instruments so clearly that you can identify the maker, vocals so perfect that you can hear their vocal cords resonate and the arch of their vocal cavity, the ambience of the music in the entire hall or room in which it was recorded.  Live perfromances take on a whole new meaning with these speakers.  They are demonstrated on Atma-Sphere M60′s, Cary 98P preamp, Cary Xciter DAC, Roksan Radius table with a Transfiguration cartridge, and MIT and Acoustic Zen interconnects and cabling.  They are also demonstrated on the Heed Obelisk Si, Cary Audio Concept CD Player, MIT Interconnects and Straightwire Expressivo Speaker Wire.

JL Audio

JL Audio, the company that wrote the book on low frequency sound reproduction in the car, has now focused its talents on a line of exceptional active subwoofer systems for the home environment.

JL Audio’s Gotham and Fathom subwoofers incorporate many of the company’s patented loudspeaker and amplifier technologies in order to better address the low frequency demands of home theater program material. All models feature proprietary drivers specifically engineered for each model and built in the company’s Miramar, Florida factory.

We now have a pair of  Fathom F112′s to demo in our main soundroom, and can demo the F113 in south Sacramento and Folsom by appointment.  These speakers have excellent room compensation software, and very powerful amps (1500W F112, 2500W F113), combined with huge excursion capabilites of the drivers (3.25″ for the 112, 3.75″ for the 113).  Yet the distortion levels of these drivers are generally below 1% at 19Hz to 100Hz at 100 db in the room.  One needs to hear to believe your ears.

Their A300 stereo amp won best of show at CES, and their Falcon is a superb upscaling 1080p media center. They also specialize in special application Pro and home speakers.  We have both the Falcon and the A600 for demo in our soundrooms.  The A600 is one of their newest amps featuring 300W/ch RMS and a blazingly fast yet musical presentation.  It is featured in our main soundroom.

Acoustic Zen

Acoustic Zen makes a critically acclaimed line of speakers rarely matched in value and sound for the money. Sallie Reynolds of Absolute Sound said about the Adagio: “What is the sound of no distortion? …The Adagios are so free of distortion that sounds usually lost in “noise” – soft sounds that get masked all to easily – were coming through across the entire frequency range.” The Crescendo is one of the best speakers I’ve ever heard regardless of price. All are efficient-89-90db or more-so modest power amps are at home with these beautifully finished speakers.
We have the Adagio floor standing in burl and the Adagio Jr. stand mount in rosewood for you to audition.  The retail per pair of the Adagio is $4400, and the Adagio Jr. is $3400.  The difference is mainly in the lower octaves, the Jr. is not quite as defined as the Adagio, and doesn’t reach quite as low.  The Adagio is a transmission line enclosure, and the Adagio Jr. is ported.  Otherwise, the crossover is identical and the drivers are as well.  Both are dynamic, very musical, and have large soundstage with incredible depth.  I find myself comparing all other speakers to the Adagio, the Adagio being my reference speaker.  Especially when coupled with the Atma-Sphere amps.

Revel

Launched in 1996, Revel has been hailed by audiophiles and reviewers from around the globe for making the world’s finest loudspeakers.

There are four families of Revel loudspeakers: Ultima2, the ultimate expression of loudspeaker performance and design. They are simply second to none. Performa; loudspeakers that possess most of the performance and features found in the Ultima family in more traditional cabinet designs. Concerta; utilizing many of the technologies and features found in the Performa family at more affordable prices. In-Wall; Revel performance and quality for custom installation applications.
We have the F12 and its mating center channel on hand, also the F32 set at our Folsom location for your auditioning pleasure.  Our Weimar showroom has the capability to demo the F12 in a theater setup as well as in 2 channel mode, with your choice of amps.  Or we can bring them to you to hear in your system.  We will have to have dolly access to your listening room as these speakers are heavy.

Whether it is Ultima, Performa, Concerta or in-wall, owning Revel speakers is a pleasurable experience for both ears and eyes…
