Heed is a small specialty company based in Hungary who manufactures very high quality integrated amps, headphone amps, and phonostages. Their approach is unique by using very short signal paths with very high quality parts. They preserve the dynamics, musicality, and space of the music while keeping the cost down. We carry 3 Heed products:  the Quasar MM/MC Phono Stage, the CanAmp Headphone amp ( WHAT Hi Fi award winner), and the Obelisk SI integrated amp.

The Quasar is our giant-killer phono stage, using a separate power supply and fully adjustable  MM/MC values via  internal toggle switches.  This little stage has mat black background with a very musical presentation, revealing plenty of detail yet also very forgiving of less than perfect records.  We use it to demo in our $45,000 high end system-its that good.  Its retail is $1000.

The CanAmp is another giant-killer of a headphone amp.  It has a killer review at www.headfi.com and impressive specs besides sound.  It has a short signal path class A amp that can drive headphones from 32 to 600 ohms impedance with ease.  It also has pass-through capability so you don’t lose your fixed line out on your amp.  Check it out at Profundo.com or at the Heed website for more information.  We also demo this in our main system. The Obelisk SI integrated is a wonderful compact integrated amp with no compromises.  Using short signal path topology in a dual mono design, it offers 35W min/ch without the external power supply, and at least 50w with the optional X2 power supply.  But don’t be fooled by these ratings-this little amp with its non DC coupled design has a lot of current output-more akin to tube amps than transistor.  With the addition of the X2 power supply, it has 3 power supplies-1 for the preamp, and 1 for each channel, making it a true dual mono design.  It is the rage in Europe, having won the Diapason D’or 2008 award, and other great credits.  This amp has to be heard to be appreciated.  The retail for the Obelisk is $1600, and for the optional X2 power supply $1000.

Shanling is one of China’s top high end audio manufacturers. Their products are innovative, very high quality, and are well priced. They are known in the audiophile world for their excellent tube and solid state equipment.

Transfiguration is a high end phone cartridge company that has won numerous Editor’s Choice awards for their products. They are noted for their musically natural nature as well as their ability to extract the subtle nuances out of your vinyl. They are considered reference cartridges by many in the audiophile world. Both the Axia and the Phoenix won the Stereophile Top 500 Recommended List.   We have the Transfiguration Axia for demo in our front room, and we can demo the Phoenix by advance appointment at a customer’s home.  The Axia is mounted on a Roksan Radius 5 with the Nima tonearm, and the Phoenix is on a Basis 2200 Signature with the Vector 3 tonearm.  Pricing is $1600 for the Axia, and $2500 for the Phoenix.  The Orpheus is their premier cartridge and has won rave reviews.
