One of my specialties is turntable tuning. Many of us have done this by ear and you can get really close, but it takes hours of listening time and we are never quite sure that we got it right. Enter Dr. Chris Feickert with his realtime computerized analysis of the turntable. The analysis not only verifies what we hear but can take it many steps further. Did you know that it is devilishly difficult to get the azimuth adjusted correctly? Yeah, you can level it off and be done with it-but that is usually wrong. Very few cartridge manufacturers can get that needle mounted exactly at 90 degrees, most of the time they are off by 1/2 degree or more. Dr. Feickert’s Adjust Plus software not only can detect this, but allows us to compensate for it. We can also measure tonearm and turntable resonances and compensate, set up exact speeds at 33 and 45 rpm, set up exactly the optimum tracking weight for the cartridge/tonearm combo, frequency sweeps to show the response of the cartridge, and a number of other functions. This software was designed for turntable design and construction so it is extremely precise.
The complete analysis normally take 1.5-2 hours assuming no mounting is involved. I come to your home and do the analysis on your system. I also can give you the results on a flash drive, but normally I print out a hard copy at my business and send you a detailed report so if the turntable is ever moved you can reproduce the results. We normally charge $125 for this service.

We use Dr. Feickert’s system for mounting cartridges. It allows us to use either the Lofgren or Baerwald equations for reducing the overall RMS distortion levels caused by deviations from the perfect linear tracking position of your cartridge. We also will check the azimuth settings using Adjust Plus software. If included in the complete analysis as mentioned in Turntable Tuning, the total cost is $150.
